Perspectivas Humanitarias: amplificando las voces de quienes trabajan en la ayuda humanitaria en América Latina

Una nueva serie de podcast da voz al conocimiento humanitario de América Latina y el Caribe a través de historias, aprendizajes basados en la práctica y voces regionales.

La acción humanitaria en América Latina y el Caribe se construye día a día gracias a quienes trabajan en el terreno, investigan y conviven con realidades complejas: profesionales, investigadores y comunidades que las navegan y negocian constantemente. Su conocimiento, forjado en la experiencia directa del desplazamiento, los desastres relacionados con el clima, las crisis prolongadas y la desigualdad estructural— es de un valor incalculable. Sin embargo, sigue estando prácticamente ausente de la conversación humanitaria global, e incluso se le resta relevancia, en un ámbito que sigue dominado por plataformas e instituciones de habla inglesa, dejando fuera las voces de las mayorías globales.

Perspectivas Humanitarias: Historias de trabajadores y trabajadoras en la ayuda humanitaria en América Latina y el Caribe es una nueva serie de podcast, producida y conducida por Carla Vitantonio, que nace justamente para cerrar esa brecha. Su propósito es recoger y amplificar las historias de profesionales, investigadores y colectivos hispanohablantes que trabajan en la región, contadas en su propio idioma y desde su propia mirada. Los episodios estarán disponibles a partir de julio de 2026.

Un espacio para aprender e intercambiar

Cada episodio de Perspectivas Humanitarias propone una conversación a fondo con una persona, investigador o grupo del ámbito humanitario, explorando sus experiencias, formas de trabajar y reflexiones sobre la acción humanitaria en la región. La serie busca generar conocimiento no desde el análisis vertical, sino a partir de un registro cuidadoso de la práctica: qué hacen realmente los equipos humanitarios, cómo piensan y qué han aprendido en el camino.

El podcast se produce en español, y cada episodio contará con su traducción escrita al inglés, para que los aprendizajes de la región lleguen también a la comunidad humanitaria global y la enriquezcan.

Conocimiento, accesibilidad y producción democrática

Perspectivas Humanitarias está producido por Carla Vitantonio, vicepresidenta de IHSA, miembro del Observatorio Humanitario de América Latina y creadora del podcast Living Decoloniality.

Su forma de entender el podcasting parte de una convicción clara: debe ser un medio democrático, no uno que dependa de grandes recursos. La producción se sostiene con lo mínimo indispensable, una computadora, un celular y software de edición de código abierto, con el objetivo de que el proceso sea replicable y accesible incluso en contextos con infraestructura limitada.

Esta decisión responde a los mismos valores que atraviesan todo el proyecto: que compartir conocimiento de manera significativa no requiere infraestructura costosa, y que quienes trabajan en contextos con recursos limitados tienen tanto para aportar al aprendizaje humanitario como quienes cuentan con más medios.

Un aporte a los observatorios humanitarios

El podcast se realiza bajo el auspicio del Observatorio Humanitario de América Latina y de IHSA, y uno de sus objetivos explícitos es dar mayor visibilidad a la red de observatorios humanitarios. En un momento en que el sistema humanitario global enfrenta una presión cada vez mayor por descentralizarse, localizarse y escuchar de verdad a quienes están más cerca de las crisis, Perspectivas Humanitarias es un aporte concreto a esa agenda.

A new podcast series brings forward humanitarian knowledge from Latin America and the Caribbean through stories, practice-based learning, and regional voices.

Humanitarian action in Latin America and the Caribbean is jointly shaped by practitioners, researchers, and communities who navigate and negotiate complex realities every day. Their knowledge, rooted in direct experience of displacement, climate-related disasters, protracted crises, and systemic inequality, is invaluable. Yet it remains largely absent, and is often considered less relevant, from the global humanitarian conversation, which continues to be dominated by English-language platforms and institutions, whilst excluding voices of the Global Majority.

Perspectivas Humanitarias: Historias de trabajadores y trabajadoras en la ayuda humanitaria en América Latina y el Caribe is a new podcast series, produced and hosted by Carla Vitantonio to address precisely this gap. It will collect and amplify the stories of Hispanophone humanitarian practitioners, researchers, and collectives working across the LAC region, in their own language, from their own perspectives. Episodes will be online in July 2026.

A platform for learning and exchange

Each episode of Perspectivas Humanitarias will feature an in-depth conversation with one humanitarian practitioner, researcher, or group, exploring their experiences, approaches, and reflections on humanitarian action in the region. The series aims to generate knowledge not through top-down analysis, but through the careful documentation of practice: what humanitarians actually do, how they think, and what they have learned.

The podcast is produced in Spanish. Written English translations of every episode will be made available, ensuring that insights from the LAC region can reach and enrich the broader global humanitarian community.

Knowledge, accessibility, and democratic production

Perspectivas Humanitarias is produced by Carla Vitantonio, vice-president of IHSA, member of the LAC Humanitarian Observatory, and creator of the podcast Living Decoloniality.

Her approach to podcasting is shaped by a clear commitment: podcasting should be a democratic medium, not a resource-intensive one. Production relies on minimal technology: a computer, a mobile phone, and open-source editing software.  This approach aims to make the process both replicable and accessible in contexts with limited infrastructure.

This choice reflects the same values that animate the project as a whole: that meaningful knowledge-sharing does not require expensive infrastructure, and that practitioners in resource-constrained contexts have as much to contribute to humanitarian learning as those based in better-resourced settings.

Contributing to humanitarian observatories

The podcast is produced under the aegis of the LAC Humanitarian Observatory and IHSA, and one of its explicit objectives is to amplify awareness and visibility of the humanitarian observatories network. In a moment when the global humanitarian system is under significant pressure to decentralize, localize, and genuinely listen to those closest to crises, Perspectivas Humanitarias represents a concrete contribution to that agenda.
